Website Registration Roadmap - How To Create Your Own Website In 7 Easy Steps

Creating your own website is actually easy in today's world of affordable and free web hosts and website building software. Fortunately, even if you have no Internet experience at all you can simply follow directions and build your own website in seven easy steps. Just follow the steps below and before you know it you will have your very own website online.

Step #1 - Make a Plan

The first thing you should do before starting on your website is make a plan. You want to know what your goals are for your website so you will be able to better plan and design it, not to mention finding a web host to support it. Decide on the focus of the site, what you will include, and who you will be marketing to. Then, when you know this information, you can move on to step #2, registering a URL.

Step #2 - Register URL

In order to have your own website you need a URL or domain name to direct people to your website. Many URLs are already been taken so you will need to be creative and think about your products, your site, your goals, and who you are trying to reach. Then, start checking to see if the domain names you would prefer are available. Remember, keep the URL short and easy to remember and pertaining to your website in some meaningful way. If people can remember your address they have a better chance of returning to your site.

Step #3 - Find a Web Host

Now that you have these steps taken care of you will need to find a host. web hosts are available in all price ranges with a wide variety of features, so the plan you made earlier will determine the type of host you need. There are free hosts and expensive hosts with just as many services, tools, and rules, so do your research when it comes to hosts.

Step #4 - Design Your Site

Most hosts have an interactive design tool that allows you to immediately design your site, add colors, and upload text and photos. These tools are easy, user friendly, and fast.

Step #5 - Upload

Make sure you have all the information together that you want to include on your website from images to text. When you come to the file upload area of designing your site, you'll be all set.

Step #6 - Market

Market your site by registering it with the major search engines, getting other websites to link to you, and including critical keywords in your content. By doing all of this you will get higher search engine rankings and more traffic.

Step #7 - Manage

At this point all you have to do is manage your account. Just update your information when it is outdated, change photos, and add new information whenever it becomes available.
