Setting Up A Website
Where does a person start when setting up a website? What software is best to use? Setting up a website is not an easy proposition. If you are interested in knowing what the first step is in setting up your own website, continue reading. In fact, it is a good idea to have a solid understanding of how to build sites before attempting to go-live. If you are looking for a professional looking website, you should be willing to pay for one, because building a professional looking website does not happen overnight. I have been studying website design and development for close to six years now, and I have dedicated endless hours of my time on this subject, and I still have my moments when I feel like throwing in the towel. Why? Studying web design and development goes wide and deep! Not only is it tough to build a relatively simple website, but a person needs to know how to manage a website as it sits on a server and understand how websites are indexed and function on the Internet. Flash animations, internal and external links, and hierarchical organization is another important part of all websites. In addition, knowledge of how to create web-ready graphics is of key importance too, because websites need to load as quick as possible. Don't forget, websites require knowledge of design elements and principles, web-friendly typography and style sheets, graphic design, and written communication skills. Each one of these aspects can not be ignored or minimized and are the building blocks for professional looking websites. So where should a person start? Go to a bookstore or websites and look for books on the subject. Personally, I have a library of computer books and need all of them. Also, try raising your awareness while visiting other people's websites and notice how others build their websites. Taking classes sure helps too. Realize it or not, your website (or lack thereof) is very often the first impression your prospect or peer will have of you. Now, it's no longer a matter of having a website -- it's a matter of having a great one. Most websites are informative, bu...
Differences Between Xp Icons And Mac Icons The icons in an application are the soul of the application; they give it the modern and dynamic look the application has. Also, if the icons are intuitive ? the end user will easily remember the task behind the icon ? easy to memorize then the end users will definitely choose the respective application against one with clogged and strange icons. Icon designers are trying their best to make their creation as intuitive as possible so to make it easier for the end users to work with the applicati...

| A Great Banner Only Needs Simple Things To create your own great banner, you only need five (5) simple things:1. Size according to standards. Always keep to the standards. Having a bold, huge banner would look good and attract more attention than any graphic design ever would. Nevertheless, if everybody is doing it, what would be different about you then? As one designer have said: "I know that if your ad is slightly larger it may get more attention but if we all start doing this where will it stop." Sticking to the standards is quite the norm. Some sites would even require you to create your banner according to the regular standards of. So it is still better to design your banner this way than to revise it later on.2. Great content equals great banner. Aside from a great graphic design, your banner should also have co... | |

| Basic Web Design Principles Home PageHome page should clearly indicate what the site is about. Provide top level navigation on the first page, your logo, and tell to the visitor what he can found on your web site. Your home page should be informative, and should call your visitor on action. Home page is the place where the visitor decides what he will do, click on some of your links, or leave the site. If you have a discount, or if you offer some free service in attempt to make a contact with potential customers, make sure to provide link to that service on your home page.If you decide to implement flash intro on your first page, make sure to give the user possibility to skip the flash intro. The link "skip intro" should be outside of the flash, because you will force the visitor to wait until the Flash movie is loaded.Navigation structure | |

| Creating A Basic Web Design Template A "template" is simply a design format which you can apply to all (or most) of the pages in your web site. The first advantage of using a "template" system is that it allows you to make your most important design decisions at the beginning, and then just focus on content. The second advantage is that it allows you to quickly create new pages based on your standard design. The disadvantage is that many template-based websites look homogenized and seem to lack a unique character. Designers who sell templates tend to use the same formats over and over again, insert the same generic images, and use the same techniques... | |
